The widow of one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects has asked the Massachusetts medical examiner to release the remains of her husband’s body to his family, RadarOnline.com reports.

Katherine Russell’s lawyer said in a statement on Tuesday that she would like Tamerlan Tsarnaev's body given over to the Tsarnaev family.

Attorney Amato DeLuca has also revealed that Russell spoke with law enforcement “for many hours over the past week.”

Tsarnaev, 26, died after a gunfight with police after running out of ammunition before his brother Dzhokhar, 19, dragged his body under a vehicle hot-footing it from the scene.

According to the authorities, the cause of Tsarnaev’s death has been determined, but will remain private until his remains are released and a death certificate is filed.

He has relatives in the U.S. although his parents are still in Russia.
