Just when things seemingly couldn't get worse for NBC's embattled TODAY comes news that the morning program has been trounced in the Big Apple area ratings by Good Day New York - for two months in a row - RadarOnline.com is reporting.

After beating the embattled TODAY for the first time ever back in February, the Fox 5 affiliate did it yet again in March!

The latest blow to the TODAY cast and crew comes just one day after the network was forced to deny multiple reports, that co-host Matt Lauer is in jeopardy of being replaced by CNN turned daytime talk darling, Anderson Cooper.

"Matt Lauer is the best in the business. We want him in the TODAY show anchor chair for many years to come,” Executive Producer Alexander Wallace said in a statement Wednesday - in an effort to control the ongoing P.R. nightmare that continues to envelope the once dominate program.

Anderson is the latest in a series of high profile names being floated as a possible Lauer replacement, with Ryan Seacrest, current co-host Willie Geist and Meet The Press host David Gregory all having reportedly also been considered.
