David and Victoria Beckham are selling their English home known as Beckingham Palace.

They're asking $15 million, with some serious strings attached.

They want to sell only to a private buyer instead of a developer who might cash in on their name and split the estate into luxury apartments, a source told the Daily Mail.

"They know there aren't lots of individuals looking for houses of this size, and developers would jump at the chance to turn it into smaller flats, which would have added value because of the Beckham connection," the source said.

The superstar pair are spending so much time in London that they rarely use the lavish house in Hertfordshire anymore. Their mansion, called Rowneybury House, is about an hour from London and is now too inconvenient for the cosmopolitan family who have been renting a home in the city since moving back from Los Angeles.

The Beckhams, who are raising their sons Brooklyn,  13, Romeo,  10, and Cruz, 7, and daughter Harper,  20 months, bought the house, a former children's home, in 1999 for about $4 million.  Their many improvements to the property included a snooker room (for a game similar to pool), a gym, and flood lit tennis courts.
