Bobby Brown was sentenced to 55 days in jail, four years of informal probation and 18-month alcohol treatment program Tuesday in connection with his no contest plea to a DUI and driving on a suspended license in an October 2012 incident, Los Angeles city attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan said.

Brown, 44, was arrested for DUI twice last year -- in October and March, shortly after the death of his ex-wife, Whitney Houston -- and was on probation at the time of the latter arrest.

Last August -- two months before the DUI he was sentenced for on Tuesday -- RadarOnline.com exclusively reported that Brown's family and friends were concerned his court-ordered stint in rehab for the first incident did not make enough of an impact.

“Bobby’s family and friends are terrified, despite his pleas that he’s sober, that he will fall off the wagon once again," a source told us. “They’re not sure if he was ever serious about conquering his demons and have voiced their concerns."
