A South Florida author's new book delivers plenty of salacious stories from the Oval Office, detailing everything from John F. Kennedy's insatiable libido to Abraham Lincoln's patronage of a prostitute.

"There's a long history of these presidential peccadilloes -- whatever Bill Clinton did in the White House, it's mild," Dr. Robert Watson, the writer of Affairs of State: The Untold History of Presidential Love, Sex and Scandal, said at a gathering in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday.

There's written evidence Honest Abe once visited a working girl -- prior to his marriage and presidency -- but left before any deeds were done, Watson said.

John F. Kennedy was "the worst dog, I think, probably in history," Watson said, adding that his wife Jacqueline "knew all about John's philandering."

JFK claimed he'd suffer from headaches if he went more than two days without sex, Watson said, adding that the White House's secretarial pool was staffed with attractive 20-somethings who "did not type."

MORE ON:
Bill Clinton

The handsome Kennedy -- who was romantically linked to Marilyn Monroe, among other starlets -- bedded as many as three different women in a typical week.

Other tales in the book include: Lyndon Johnson's Lone State dalliances; Thomas Jefferson fathering a child with a slave; and the gay rumors circulating around James Buchanan.

Watson is a professor of American Studies at Boca Raton's Lynn University. Affairs of State: The Untold History of Presidential Love, Sex and Scandal is available now.
