Mommy-in-waiting Kate Middleton looked the picture of health on Sunday night when she made her first public appearance since leaving the hospital ten days ago.

The Duchess of Cambridge – who has been suffering from a severe case of morning sickness – was on hand to give out awards at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony in London.

Looking gorgeous in a green Alexander McQueen dress, the 30-year-old was her usually svelte self and wasn’t showing the slightest hint of a baby bump.

But her very appearance at the ceremony is a hopeful sign that Kate is getting better. Since being discharged from the King Edward VII hospital on December 6, the Duchess has had to miss a few formal engagements.

On Thursday her husband Prince William attended the UK premiere of the movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, alone.

A senior royal source told the MailOnline.com: “While the Duchess does not feel ready to attend a four-hour engagement she is keen to show her support to the UK’s sportsmen and women at this prestigious event, which caps a momentous year for British sport.”

Kate – who attended several events during the 2012 London Olympics – joined former LA Galaxy soccer star David Beckham to hand out awards.

Sunday night also marked the future queen’s first public appearance since the death of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who killed herself following the royal prank phone call scandal.
