Kirk Cameron has once again defended the controversial comments he made about homosexuality on Piers Morgan’s CNN program back in March – this time to a crowd of students, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

The 41-year-old actor, best known for his role as Mike Seaver on the TV comedy Growing Pains, addressed a group of college kids at Virginia’s Liberty University where he spoke about the scandal.

“Sometimes, when a Christian is asked a question and has a conviction about not backing down and wussing out…it can get you into some hot water,” Cameron said.

Cameron also claimed he was “drug out to the public square” and “stoned so to speak” and “crucified” after he had “blasphemed the God of Political Correctness” with his anti-gay views.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 41-year-old former child star shared his views on homosexuality with Morgan earlier this year, “I think that it's… it's… it's unnatural. I think that it's…it's detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."

On the subject of gay marriage, Cameron added, “Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don't think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don't.”

Cameron later released an apology to ABCNews.com: “I spoke as honestly as I could, but some people believe my responses were not loving toward those in the gay community.

"That is not true. I can assuredly say that it’s my life’s mission to love all people,” he said.

However, that didn’t change his stance on the subject. He continued: “I should be able to express moral views on social issues, especially those that have been the underpinning of Western civilization for 2,000 years — without being slandered, accused of hate speech, and told from those who preach ‘tolerance’ that I need to either bend my beliefs to their moral standards or be silent when I’m in the public square.”
