TODAY Show Adds Willie Geist As Anchor In Hopes Of Stopping Ratings Slide

Good Morning America keeps beating TODAY in the ratings, and TODAY continues to make moves in response.
The latest: The show has added MSNBC correspondent Willie Geist as the co-anchor of its' 9 a.m. hour, according to the New York Times. Geist will also fill in when Matt Lauer is unavailable, and continue to work on MSNBC's Morning Joe. An official announcement from NBC is expected sometime this week.
Geist, a sometimes fill-in on TODAY, had been rumored as a candidate to work for CNN or CBS, the paper reported, as his contact with MSNBC was expiring this month.
Earlier this year, Ann Curry was made the sacrificial lamb by the show's organizers, who believed her year as co-anchor had dragged down ratings, though recent numbers show TODAY has less viewers since replacing Curry with Savannah Guthrie.
