Good news dawgs!

Randy Jackson is coming back as a judge for the 12th season of American Idol, despite months of rumors that his role on the hit Fox show would be reduced to that of a mentor.

The last minute return of Jackson comes after talks broke off with Latin singing star Enrique Iglesias.

Even though former Idol judge Simon Cowell is now on The X Factor, he graciously reacted to the news by tweeting: "Just heard Randy is back on Idol. Right decision."

Besides Jackson, Mariah Carey is the only other confirmed judge, as the show works to replace Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, who both officially announced their exits earlier this summer.

Fox  is expected to finalize two more judges this week -- most likely Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj, which would return the format to four judges.

Of course, if the Vision of Love singer has her say, perhaps Lenny Kravitz will join the hit singing competition.
