Kennedy family matriarch Ethel Kennedy denied rumors she fixed up her grandson Conor with Taylor Swift, adding, "We should be so lucky" to have the country superstar in the family fold.

The 84-year-old commented on the blossoming romance while appearing at a Television Critics Association event in Beverly Hills Wednesday, promoting daughter Rory's HBO documentary about her life, Ethel. Rory added that the award-winning Swift is a "great friend of all of ours."

Conor, who turned 18 last week, has been spotted at the family's Massachusetts compound, as well as in Westchester County, New York, hanging out with the 22-year-old songstress.

"I was out to lunch with a few friends in Mount Kisco and as we're walking down the street from the diner, we see Conor Kennedy emerge from a pizza shop with Taylor Swift right behind him," an eyewitness told RadarOnline.com. "They were holding hands and both had huge grins on their faces. Taylor playfully leaned into him as they walked."

As we previously reported, Conor, who's also the grandson of late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, tragically lost his mother Mary Richardson Kennedy May 16 after she committed suicide.

"Conor is set to inherit his mother's fortune and oversee her estate now that he's a legal adult, which is very appealing to Taylor, because she sees him as more of a man now and she needs that stability in her life," an insider told us.
