Evelyn Lozada has broken her silence about her husband Chad Johnson’s arrest for alleged domestic violence and said the football player needs to get help to “overcome his troubles.”

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, 34, was arrested August 10 for allegedly head butting Evelyn, 36, after she found a receipt for a box of condoms. She sought medical help for a laceration on her forehead and he spent the night in jail.

“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday,” Evelyn told Entertainment Tonight Monday.

“I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles.

As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, Evelyn may have had good reason to suspect her NFL player husband of cheating, after a Boston woman claims she had a heated affair with him.

Beverly Shiner, 30, says she dated the former New England Patriots player from January until May this year and said they had sex the first night she went over to his home and hooked up multiple times after that.

The six-time Pro Bowl receiver was arrested by Davie, Florida police and released from jail on $2,500 bond Sunday after being charged with simple domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

Evelyn continued her statement about Chad, saying: “Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time."
