Her terrifying fall was broken by Steven St. Bernard, a neighbor in the building who saw her falling and ran towards her to help her. It was captured on tape by another person with their cell phone.

"Please let me catch her, please let me catch her, that's all I could say. Let me catch the little baby, that's all," he told ABC News affiliate WABC.

"She did hit the bushes and the ground a little, but not straight on because of his arms," witness Latasha Marcus said about her dramatic fall.

"It feels good now to know that I did something," St. Bernard said.

He was wearing a sling for the torn tendon in his left shoulder, but Keyla escaped without harm.

"I saw her in the hospital," St. Bernard, 52, said.  "She doesn't have a scratch on him."

Police have said that they do not believe her parents did anything criminal and Steven St. Bernard is being called a hero for helping Keyla.
