Katie Holmes Hints At Divorce In Revealing Pre-Split Interview

Katie Holmes appears to have hinted at her plans to divorce husband Tom Cruise in a revealing pre-split interview with the August issue of Elle magazine.

In the interview, which took place approximately six weeks ago, Holmes, who graces the cover of the magazine, talks about entering “a new phase.”

"I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin," Holmes, 33, reportedly told Elle when asked about being in her 30s.

"I feel sexier. I think in my 20s, it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out," she said, before adding, "I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase."

Elle also asked Holmes about her 5-year marriage to Cruise, but now, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, we see how she quickly turns the topic back to herself.

"He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years," Holmes said. "I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that."

When asked if her highly publicized marriage to one of Hollywood’s most famous -- and powerful -- men has helped her career, the former Dawson's Creeks star said she's actually had to push harder for roles since becoming Mrs. Tom Cruise.

"Things are not handed to anyone. If anything, you work a little bit harder when you're in such visible circumstances," she said.

As RadarOnline.com has previously reported, Holmes filed for divorce in Manhattan exactly one week ago. In her filing, she cited “irreconcilable differences” and is seeking sole custody of the couple’s 6-year-old daughter Suri.
