Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless is fighting the fight for Greenpeace and is now facing three years in prison, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The actress pleaded guilty on Thursday for a February trespassing charge when she and five other environmental activists sat atop a drilling tower in New Zealand for four days in protest against Arctic oil exploration.

Lucy, 44, is a native New Zealander and will be sentenced in September facing a maximum three years in prison after prosecutors dropped the more serious charge of burglary.

"I had to do what I had to do," Lucy told the New Zealand Herald.

"We want to tell those responsible for deep-sea oil drilling absolutely under no circumstances is this a good idea. They are robbing our children of their birthright to a clean and healthy planet, and they know it."
