American Idol’s Steven Tyler: I’m No Simon Cowell!

American Idol judge Steven Tyler explained the difference in his how philosophy judging American Idol contestants differs that from his predecessor Simon Cowell, while appearing on Craig Ferguson Tuesday.

"I turned the show on once and I heard him be mean and I thought … it was based on that he didn't like country and western," said Tyler, who's in his second season as a judge on the Fox hit.

"And I thought, 'Well that’s silly, because I though music is a beautiful thing for ears to hear … it shouldn’t be judged by ideas like, 'I don't like this Country and Western thing.'"

Asked if he gets along with the surly Brit, Tyler said, "I have not met him yet."
