By Amber GoodhandRadar News Editor

When Kathie Lee Gifford brought up Martin Short‘s dead wife on Wednesday’s TODAY Show as if she were still alive, jaws dropped open all over America — but Martin now says that mistakes happen.

Martin, 62, was more than gracious while Kathie Lee rattled on about what a great marriage he and Nancy Dolman have and how they’re still in love after all this time.

On Thursday Martin told E! News, “I think that it’s live television and people make mistakes and there’s no ill will intended.
