Amid reports that reality star, Bethenny Frankel and her husband of two years, Jason Hoppy are headed for divorce, a source close to the Skinnygirl founder tells RadarOnline.com exclusively that the couple signed a prenup before they got married, which was slightly modified after the wedding.
As previously reported, Bethenny and Jason have both met with divorce lawyers, according to this week’s edition of Star, and one source tells the magazine, “They are going to get a divorce … it’s imminent.”
“Bethenny wasn’t going to get married without a prenup, to protect both herself and Jason,” a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com. “Bethenny has watched plenty of her friends over the years get divorced and has always vowed to never end up dependent on a man for financial stability or security. The prenup clearly outlines that ALL of Bethenny’s business deals, endorsements, Skinnygirl, are hers, period. The prenup was modified after the couple got married, but Skinnygirl is and always will be Bethenny’s, and Jason waived any rights to it.
“Bethenny had just started dating Jason when Skinnygirl was in the beginning stages. Skinnygirl was sold to Jim Beam after the pair got married and this is when the prenup was modified, but Bethenny still has an active role with the company.”
Frankel reportedly sold Skinnygirl for a whopping $120 million dollars and was featured on the cover of Forbes magazine’s Highest Earning Women List.
Hoppy and Frankel had been living in New York, which has much stricter divorce laws but Bethenny is now living in Los Angeles this summer while she shoots her new talk show for Fox. California is a no-fault divorce state, which could factor in a decision on where Frankel chooses to pull the plug on her troubled marriage. This week’s Star also drops the bombshell that things between Bethenny and her Skinnygirl business partner Matt Hesse might have gotten less professional and more personal lately.
Meanwhile, Jason is just biding his time to expose the former Real Housewives of New York City star for her two-timing ways, an insider told Star. “Jason has said that when he is ready to officially file for divorce, he is ready to call Bethenny out on her infidelity and name Matt in the papers,” said the insider, adding Matt has said there’s nothing going on between he and Bethenny.
“For personal and business purposes, IF Bethenny decides to file for divorce she would be very smart to file in California so that any alleged cheating allegations would be minimized and not focused on as it could be in New York,” the source added.
