Ryan O'Neal showed up Monday at 30 Rock In New York for an exclusive interview on the Today show, but canceled at the last minute, saying he didn't feel well.

The 71-year-old Love Story actor -- who earlier this month revealed he has stage 2 prostate cancer  -- was scheduled to appear on Today to talk about his controversial new memoir, Both Of Us, My Life With Farrah.

Today's Matt Lauer made the announcement of O'Neal's cancelation, saying "... we are sad to say Mr. O'Neal showed up here this morning ...he was not feeling well. He has since gone back to his hotel and we are told he is canceling all of his appearances for today, and we hope he is alright, and we hope to see him tomorrow morning, here on Today."

Prior to O'Neal's cancelation, RadarOnline.com exclusively reported that two of the star's four children, Tatum and Redmond, were already slamming their father's memoir, even before it goes on sale.

According to a source, they're saying it is not an honest account of their tumultuous relationship with the Love Story actor, and just promotes what they describe as "Ryan's self-serving narcissistic tendencies."

Redmond, for one, is outraged that his father is attempting to blame him for his 2008 drug arrest, and his daughter Tatum, who was recently released from rehab after a cocaine relapse last year, is perplexed that her father is now denying that he accidentally hit on her at Farrah's funeral.

O'Neal's book, Both of Us, My Life With Farrah, goes on sale Tuesday, May 1.
