Kobe Bryant Teams Up With Turkish Airlines To Celebrate One-Year Anniversary At LAX

Kobe Bryant isn’t just an NBA superstar, he’s also the Global Ambassador for Turkish Airlines, and on Wednesday, the charismatic baller teamed up with the Turkish Airlines General Manager, the Turkish Consul General, LAX officials and other VIP guests to mark the airline’s one year anniversary of its service launch in Los Angeles and to celebrate its increased flight schedule.

Effective this week, Turkish Airlines is now offering daily flights between Los Angeles and Istanbul, providing convenient connections to Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

In his role as Global Ambassador, Bryant cut a ceremonial ribbon to mark the anniversary. He also praised the airline, saying “Turkish Airlines is obviously the best airline in Europe.  Some of you might know my experience with flying Turkish Airlines.  The food is remarkable….  But, the travel is extremely comfortable. It’s the best -- the one year anniversary of opening the gates and flying from Los Angeles to Turkey directly, and I just want to say congratulations! It’s great honor to be part of such a great company. and here we are. Thank you to everyone for coming out.

Established in 1933, Turkish Airlines was recently named Europe’s Best Airline by the world’s largest airline review site, Skytrax.

Travelers on Turkish Airlines can fly from the U.S. to 190 destinations around the globe via Istanbul and in  an effort to accommodate its rapid global expansion, the airline says it is committed to adding 19 new airplanes in 2012, along with new routes and destinations. In addition to Europe, Turkish Airlines has strategically expanded into Russia, Central Asia, the Far East, the Middle East, Africa and The Americas. The airline recently announced new Balkan routes and continues to expand service from its U.S. gateways of Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. -- all of which offer non-stop flights to the airline’s Istanbul hub with convenient onward connections.
