Florida native Jeremy Rosado was eliminated on Thursday night’s American Idol, a night after the show had the men singing songs by Stevie Wonder, while the women sang the work of Whitney Houston.

Rosado, 19, sang Wonder’s Ribbon in the Sky on Wednesday’s show. He was given the heave-ho by judges, who were forced to decide which one of the competitors with the least amount of votes would go home. Narrowly missing the cut was South Carolina teacher Elise Testone.

Rosado, a likeable teen, was a personal favorite of judge Jennifer Lopez’s, who struggled with delivering her “Jer Bear” the bad news.

“We’ve come to the decision that .... we’re gonna save Elise,” a forlorn J.Lo said.

"This whole experience, this was awesome ... thank you guys for everything," Rosado said after his elimination was announced. (In a cruel twist of fate, time constraints did not allow Jeremy to sing one last song, as is the custom -- talk about unlucky 13!)

Emerging this week as a fan favorite for this year’s crown was San Diego teen Jessica Sanchez, who delivered one of the show’s most poignant moments Wednesday with her stirring rendition of Houston's I Will Always Love You.
