Streep Ends Losing Streak! Meryl Takes Home Best Actress Oscar

Meryl Streep broke her losing streak and beat out Viola Davis to take home her third Oscar at the 2012 Academy Awards Sunday night!

The veteran actor, who has been nominated a record 17 times, was glittering in gold on the stage accepting her Oscar for portraying former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.

This is her third Oscar, but her last win was for Sophie's Choice in 1982. 

"When they called my name I could hear half of America going oh no, oh come on why, her again? But whatever.." Meryl joked. But she didn't need to worry, the Academy gave her the win over Davis, Michelle Williams in My Week with Marilyn, Glenn Close in Albert Knobbs and Bernice Bejo in The Artist.

She lovingly acknowledged her husband Don Gummer in the beginning of her speech, saying "When you thank your husband at the end of the speech theu play him out with the music and I want him to know everything I value in our lives you have given me."
