Adele Apologizes For Flipping The Bird At British Awards Show

Apparently, Adele’s not one for interruptions.

Accepting an award at Tuesday’s Brit Awards, the singer, 23, was cut off by the show’s host because the event was running short on time, prompting her to throw up a middle finger in anger -- and getting a chorus of boos from those at London’s O2 Arena in the process.

The Rolling in the Deep singer, whose full name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, said "I am so proud to be British and to be flying the flag," prior to throwing up the obscene gesture after she was yanked due to time.

She later clarified her stance, telling the BBC: "I flung the middle finger. That was for the suits at the Brit Awards, not my fans. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but the suits offended me."

Award show officials issued the following statement Wednesday: “We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short this evening due to the live show over-running.

As we previously reported, the singer swept the six categories she was nominated in at this month’s 54th annual Grammy Awards, including album of the year, record of the year, and song of the year for her second album, 21. The six wins tied her with Beyonce for the most ever by a female act in a single year.
