Mariah Carey was tearful Saturday night as celebrities paid tribute to her at the 5th Annual BET Honors.

The singer had a rollercoaster start to the year when husband Nick Cannon was hospitalized suffering from mild kidney failure.

But the couple put all that behind them to attend the event in Washington, DC. She became emotional as her husband delivered a heartfelt speech to her and cried when Patti LaBelle serenaded her with her classic ballad Hero.

Looking amazing WITH not a hint of any baby weight after giving birth to twins nine months ago, Mariah wore a nude and black figure-hugging gown.

Cannon brought their gorgeous son Moroccan out on stage while their daughter Monroe was a bit more stage shy and stayed behind the scenes. Mariah kissed and cuddled Nick, happy to have him back in good health.

Gabrielle Union was the host of the ceremony which also honored Stevie Wonder, Spike Lee and Maya Angelou.

First Lady Michelle Obama was also there and presented the Literary Arts award to poet Angelou.

Other guests included Kelly Rowland, who wowed in a lilac dress with a thigh-high split and Willow Smith who left her usual wacky wardrobe at home and looked very grown up in a yellow capped-sleeved gown.

The special will air on BET February 13.
