Following the shocking resignation of foul-mouthed filmmaker Brett Ratner as producer of the 2012 Oscars, famed Hollywood producer Brian Grazer is now taking over the coveted role at the 84th Academy Awards, RadarOnline.com has learned.

"Brian Grazer is a renowned filmmaker who over the past 25 years has produced a  diverse and extraordinary body of work," said of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak in a statement on Wednesday.

"He will certainly bring his tremendous talent, creativity and relationships to the Oscars."

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Ratner stepped down on Tuesday after a scandal-filled few days that included him dropping a gay slur at a Q&A and partaking in an expletive-filled interview with Howard Stern.

His replacement, who will be joining forces with Don Mischer, expressed his excitement over his new gig on Wednesday.

"It's very gratifying to be part of a show that honors excellence in the medium to which I have devoted so much of my career," said Grazer. "Don is a legend, and I am excited to work with him."

Grazer is no stranger to the Academy Awards having won the Best Picture Oscar in 2001 for A Beautiful Mind and receiving nominations for Splash, Apollo 13 and Frost/Nixon.

The Academy still has to fill the role of host after Eddie Murphy pulled out in the wake of his creative partner and Tower Heist director Ratner's resignation, as RadarOnline.com previously reported.
