Boardwalk Empire star Paz de la Huerta has gotten a bad girl reputation in Hollywood, due to a few, highly publicized incidents – but the sultry star set the record straight with RadarOnline.com at the 2011 Emmy Awards on Sunday – she is really a nerd.

“I’m actually quite a nerd,” the actress claimed on the red carpet, when asked about her glamorous Hollywood life, adding: “You can ask my friends.”

So, how does the actress occupy her free time, which she maintains isn’t plentiful these days, as she has been filming her new movie Nurse 3D 17 hours a day in Canada?

“I’m an artist. I stay at home.  I make collages,” she said. “I am a painter.  My passion is painting and that’s something that hopefully I’ll be able to get a huge place soon.  And I direct films.”

At a Golden Globes after party in 2011, Paz was infamously caught on camera getting denied access to a Hollywood A-list bash, and then proceeding to fall down and tear her designer dress, flashing her breasts to the crowd.

Months later, she was charged with assault after a reported barroom brawl with The City star Samantha Swetra.  She plead guilty to harassment and her sentencing included community service and alcohol counseling.
