It’s the end of an era, and it went out with a bang.

The season finale of TLC’s Kate Plus 8 raked in its best ratings in over a year, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

A rep for TLC told RadarOnline.com that Monday night’s show gathered “its best ratings in over a year, since the series’ second episode” that aired on June 6, 2010 — which coincidentally, was the premiere of Kate Plus 8 after Jon Gosselin left the show and TLC had to revamp the format.

Kate Gosselin’s final show with her children was viewed by an average of 2.1 million people, according to the Nielsen ratings.

But Kate promises it’s not the last you’ll see of her and her eight children — telling Matt Lauer on the Today show that she wants to stay on TV.

“I think at this point, the best opportunity for all of us would be me continuing on TV as a way to provide for my kids. Something that’s exciting and challenging for me has been TV, and I wouldn’t be opposed to it,” she said.
