Taylor Armstrong struggled with how to deal with the violent beating she allegedly suffered at the hands of her estranged husband, Russell Armstrong, and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that she didn't want to take legal action to prevent her daughter from finding out.

"She told me she was trying to protect Kennedy," a source said about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star's decision to not file a police report after Russell's alleged abuse put her in the hospital in June.

As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, Russell allegedly hit Taylor so hard she had to have reconstructive surgery on her right eye socket to repair the damage.

However, afraid of the publicity and the affect it would have on their young daughter, Taylor made the difficult decision not to contact the police over the abuse.

"She said that she didn't want Kennedy to know and she knew that Russell would never harm their daughter,” the source tells RadarOnline.com. “Kennedy would hear them yelling behind closed doors but she didn't witness any violence."
