All hail the Queen -- and the Duchess, for that matter!

Yes, that was Queen Elizabeth and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton roaming the palatial halls of Buckingham on Friday, touring a new display centered around the breathtaking dress Kate wore as she married Prince William this past spring.

Surprisingly, the Queen was not as taken in by the majestic display as one would assume: the monarch, according to a reporter with Britain's Press Association, uttered phrases such as "horrible," "horrid," and "creepy" while examining the historic garment. Kate diplomatically said it had a "3D effect" in response.

Kate wore a simple, but elegant, ivory dress for the tour, while the Queen wore one with a floral pattern.

As we previously reported, the satin-gazar wedding dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen is showcased on a plinth in the Palace ballroom, along with the Cartier Halo tiara Kate wore on loan from the Queen.

More memorabilia on display: Kate's wedding shoes, earrings and head piece; and a replica of the royal wedding cake.

The royal artifacts were already drawing plenty of fans to the palace, which reported a 107-percent surge in tour sales compared to 2010, thanks to the young couple's popularity.

Will and Kate, who met while attending Scotland's St. Andrew's University back in 2001, wed April 29 at Westminster Abbey, as an estimated worldwide audience of 2 billion people watched.
