Harry Potter Star Daniel Radcliffe Reveals Booze Battle: 'I Became Reliant On Alcohol'

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has made a stunning revelation about his previously secret battle with the bottle.

In a candid interview with British GQ magazine the 21-year-old actor says he hasn't touched a drop since August 2010 when he realized he had a problem.

"I became so reliant on alcohol to enjoy stuff," he said. "There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me."

And while he hid it well from his fans and the media, he admits he was lucky not to have been photographed during one of his drink-fueled nights on the town.

"I really got away with that because there were many instances when a paparazzi shot like that could have been taken," he said.

Radcliffe - whose drink of choice was whiskey - says being sober has improved his relationship with his mystery girlfriend too.

"I'm actually enjoying the fact I can have a relationship with my girlfriend where I'm really pleasant and I'm not f***ing up totally all the time."

And he feels his new lifestyle suits him down to the ground.

"As much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time, that doesn't work for me," he told the August edition of the magazine.
