Anthony Weiner's weepy apology hasn't protected him from a House of Representatives probe.

Just one hour after admitting that he sent a lewd photo to a 21-year-old student via Twitter and confessed that he has had "inappropriate conversations" with at least six women, Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called for an United States House of Representatives Ethics Committee violation investigation for the embattled New York congressman's dalliances.

"The picture was of me and I sent it," Weiner admitted during a shocking press conference Monday.  He also said: "I am deeply regretting what I have done, but I am not resigning."

"I am deeply disappointed and saddened about this situation; for Anthony's wife, Huma, his family, his staff and his constituents," Pelosi said in a statement.  "I am calling for an Ethics Committee investigation to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred."

During his press conference, Weiner was asked if he was going to resign and what his constituents would think.  "I've worked work the people of my district for 13 years and in politics for 20 years and I hope that they see fit to see this in the light that this is, which is a deeply regrettable mistake," he said.

Weiner will be up for re-election in 2012.

He apologized repeatedly while breaking down in tears at the podium during his press conference. "I have made terrible mistakes and I have not been honest with myself."

Weiner said that while many of the "inappropriate" relationships were prior to his marriage, "some sadly took place after my marriage.

"I haven't told the truth, I deeply regret that. I brought pain to people I care about the most and people who believed in me and for that I am deeply sorry. I apologize to my wife and our families.

"I am deeply ashamed of my terrible judgment and actions."

RadarOnline.com and Star Magazine exclusively revealed that another woman had a sexting exchange with Weiner.  She provided a portion of the 200 sexually explicit messages she says she received from Weiner on Facebook.

Weiner is married to Huma Abedin, who is considered one of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s top aides. She was not at the press conference and he said "I have a loving wife," but would not state her current location.
