NFL legend Joe Montana’s son Nate Montana has a history of alcohol related problems, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

The Montana Grizzlies quarterback was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of driving while under the influence in Missoula, Montana.

He was arrested after failing a field sobriety test and had several other people in his vehicle when he was pulled over by local police.

A Sheriff's spokesperson in Montana told RadarOnline.com that Montana refused a blood alcohol test when he was taken back to jail after failing his field sobriety test.

The 21-year-old was released from jail after posting $685 bond.

RadarOnline.com has learned that last August Montana Jr, then a back-up quarterback at Notre Dame, also had an alcohol related run-in with the law.

He was busted on misdemeanor charges of minor consumption at a house party in South Bend, IN – Montana Jnr played just three games for Notre Dame before being transferred to the Grizzlies.

So far his new team have not stated what punishment, if any, they will hand out to their young star who was being tipped to be their starting quarterback for the coming season.

Montana Jr is scheduled to appear  in Missoula Justice Court in Montana Friday afternoon.
