Eternally youthful-looking former supermodel Christie Brinkley is about to cross the pond by taking Chicago’s Roxie Hart to London.
The 57-year-old who made her debut in the role on Broadway earlier this year will transfer to the British capital’s West End for a four week run on July 11.
Brinkley and her daughter Alexa Ray, from her relationship with ex-husband Billy Joel, posed for cameras after treading the boards in New York last night.
The ageless mother looked amazing in a strapless nude Zuhair Murad mini dress with black sequins and giant bow sash while Alexa wore a floral dress with a puffball skirt for her mom’s big night.
Brinkley, who inspired Billy Joel’s 1983 hit Uptown Girl, said of her transition into stage roles: “Billy always used to say I could do a Broadway musical.”
The model began her career in the 1970s and became one of the most famous cover girls in the world – she also appeared appeared on the big screen opposite Chevy Chase in the 1983 film National Lampoon’s Vacation.
More recently she made a guest appearance in TV hit Ugly Betty before making her successful transition to the stage.
Stepping into the shoes of Brooke Shields, Ashlee Simpson and Michelle Williams – who all previously played Roxie Hart – was a big challenge for the mother of three.
But before she took the role in April she said: “I have been a boxing photograph for Don King, I’ve travelled with a rock band, climbed the Himalayas with my son and chanted with the monks under the stars.
“I’ve been a national cutting horse champion and a delegate for the 1st Congressional District of New York … I love to fill my life with adventures and this is my Broadway adventure!”
