Troubled actress Catherine Zeta Jones is back to work, after a short stay at a mental hospital to treat her bi-polar II disorder.

The 41-year-old was spotted on the set of her new movie, Playing The Field, in Shreveport, Louisiana Tuesday, and looks to be on the mend after her recent bout of depression.

Catherine, who is married to fellow actor Michael Douglas, 66, and is mom to Dylan, 10, and Carys, 8, checked into Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut for help earlier this month as she struggled to deal with mounting depression.

The brave actress is speaking out about her bi-polar battle with the hope that it may help others seek help, telling PEOPLE: "This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them.

“If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help."

A friend of the Chicago star says Catherine was shaken by her husband’s much publicized battle with throat cancer, and that as Michael recovered and got stronger she didn’t.

"The simple things would just seem overwhelming, like going out to dinner," says the close friend. "There was just a little piece of her chipped away. It was hard to watch because I knew how hard she was trying."
