A much-hyped apology on Wednesday's edition of American Idol, for the behavior of judge Steven Tyler, turned out to be much ado about nothing.

After host Ryan Seacrest promoted the mysterious apology on his radio show, the episode began with a message scrolling across the screen that read: "American Idol would like to apologize for last week’s outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler. Mr. Tyler has been warned and assures us it will never happen again."

Then, it flashed to a clip of an exchange between Tyler and a young hopeful named Jake Muck.

"My name is Jake Muck," Muck said, to which Tyler replied, "You know what Muck rhymes with, don't you?"

"Duck?" Muck said, before Tyler said, "Read my lips," and the clip ended (with the implication Tyler had said the F-word).

Hey, it's a show you watch for music, not comedy! American Idol airs Wednesday and Thursday at 8/7c.
