EXCLUSIVE VIDEO BLOG: Sanjaya Sounds Off On New American Idol

Sanjaya Malakar exclusively gives his take on the new season of American Idol to RadarOnline.com in this brand new video blog, where the memorable contestant from 2007 says the show’s Wednesday night auditions in Milwaukee were “awesome… really good”

The Washington state native said that this year’s crop of judges are knowledgeable, and the contestants look polished, as they seem to know what makes a winner after the show’s decade-long run on the air.

“Ten years, that’s a lot of time to study and it has paid off,” Sanjaya said.

Sanjaya, who’s also appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me out of Here!, said he was a bit “turned off” by the show’s youth infusion, as it’s lowered the minimum age for contestants to 15.

“The show’s about projecting yourself, and I don’t know anyone at 17, let alone 15, that has a grasp of who they are, and how to project it.”

Sanjaya, now 21, said he was impressed by Naima Adedapo, who he said has a “beautiful rich tone… really beautiful tone… obviously, a solid, solid singer.”

Sanjaya said the singers he’s seen so far are quite talented, so “it’ll be interesting to see how they all do, how it all goes” as the season chugs along.
