According to tax forms obtained by RadarOnline.com, the Make It Right Foundation's assets soared from $19,781,522 to $40,781,113 in 2009 -- a gain of $20 million.

"Its primary goal is to provide high-quality, energy-efficient housing to families in need, and to improve the development of communities in which they live," the organization says in its mission statement.

The foundation lists 15 primary goals they achieved with the money raised in 2009 including:

  • building the first permitted floating house in America
  • creating a micro-farm and community gardens in the lower 9th ward
  • providing $2 million in gap financing to residents participating in their program
  • building homes that garnered the highest possible rating given by the U.S. Green Building Council
  • offering individual home-ownership counseling services and group workshops to the New Orleans' community.

Pitt and his off-screen love, Angelina Jolie, have been outspoken philanthropists, starting the Jolie-Pitt Foundation in 2006 to aid humanitarian causes around the world, donating money to Global Action for Children and Doctors Without Borders.

The Make It Right Foundation only lists six paid employees working an average of 38.35 hours per week with reported compensation at $324,854, in total.

Most of the organization's expenses were put towards construction costs and they were able to put forth $24,402,266 to secure mortgages and notes payable to unrelated third parties.
