The biggest names in Hollywood are tweeting their approval of Wednesday's historic repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell.

"Can't hold back the tears  + pride. Our voice was finally heard," Lady Gaga wrote.

Ellen DeGeneres added: " Thank you Senators for pushing us one step closer towards full equality.

President Barack Obama also weighed into the moment saying, "By ending Don't Ask, Don't Tell no longer will patriotic Americans be asked to live a lie in order to serve the country they love."

The new law ends the 17-year old policy that forced gays to hide their sexual orientation or be dismissed from the military.
