Prior to undergoing open heart surgery, Barbara Walters promised in May she’d be “roaring back” to The View when it returned for its 14th season premiere: on Tuesday, she did just that.

Walters returned to her full-time spot on the show’s panel, her first day in full capacity since she underwent open heart surgery in mid-May to replace a faulty valve, and David Letterman was there to welcome her back in his first appearance on the popular ABC talk show.
The legendary TV journalist — who showed a tiny trace of the scar the surgery left — was lauded in video tributes by stars such as Elton John and Justin Bieber.
Letterman, who underwent a quintuple bypass operation in 2000, lightheartedly joked with Walters about the harrowing procedure.
While Walters said she now has a pig valve in her chest, Letterman said he just has other pig parts.
