The Modern Family star’s boyfriend miraculously survived after emergency personnel were called to the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital.
“I was working from home that afternoon and heard a loud crash,” an eyewitness on the scene told RadarOnline.com of the August 23 accident.
“I heard moaning and saw a man lying on his back and a car in the ravine.
“I ran home and called 911. He was banged up pretty bad so I asked him basic questions and tried to keep him talking to prevent him from passing out.”
Our exclusive video shows Loeb conscious and seemingly alert while medical personnel took care of him, but it’s clear he’s in shock.
It appears as though Loeb was attempting to drive down a narrow road near Beverly Glen Boulevard in Bel Air, California when his white Ford tumbled over the edge.
Loeb was immediately rushed to UCLA Medical Center’s intensive care unit where he was treated for a broken leg and pelvis and a deep gash in his chest, which is evident in the video.
Just one day after the harrowing accident, Vergara posted the following message on her Twitter to let everyone know Nick was doing well:
“Thnks [sic] everybody, Nick is doing very good. Pelvix [sic] fracture, lots of pain but he is going to be ok. Gracias!!!”
The former trust-fund entrepreneur underwent six hours of surgery and remains in the hospital.
Friends and family are hopeful of a full recovery.
“Thank you so much sweetheart for taking care of me in the hospital everyday and night you are the most amazing person ever,” Loeb Tweeted back to Vergara on August 29.
Vergara posted a photo of her beau recovering in his hospital bed on September 1 with a caption that read, “How can someone look so handsome after 6 hrs in an operating room???!!!! luv uuu♥♥♥”
The Emmy-nomimated actress, 38, has been dating Loeb, 35, since February. The couple became engaged in May.
Calls to Vergara’s reps were not immediately returned.
