It's been a busy summer for Randy Couture, between a spot on the cover of UFC magazine, a role in the country's top film The Expendables and a much-anticipated UFC vs. Boxing mega-fight against James “Lights Out” Toney headlining UFC 118 later this month.

We caught up with the 47-year-old Octagon legend and got his take on his whirlwind year, his Expendables castmates and much more from the five-time UFC champ.

“I have a pinch me moment all the time,” Couture said. “This year’s been a pretty remarkable year in and of itself, getting to work with Sylvester Stallone in a movie, stuff like this with the cover. It’s pretty cool.”

Couture said he grew up on Rocky and Rambo films, making working alongside Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables "kinda surreal."

"He was great to work for -- very intense, wore a lot of hats," Couture said of Stallone (who directed, wrote and starred in the No. 1 hit), adding that the Hollywood legend likely fashioned him in mind for the part of his character, thinking tough man Toll Road.

With a cast including Stallone, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, and Terry Crews, there was clearly no shortage of alpha males on set.

With that in mind, we posed Couture the question: Who was the toughest guy in the cast?

"That's hard to say, they're all big, physical guys, they're all really good at a lot of things," he said, praising all of his colleagues for their physical fitness and diverse skill sets. He said of all of his castmates, Lundgren, with his prior karate experience, would probably be most apt to keep up with him in the Octagon.

Couture said that if he had to cast a leading lady alongside him in a film, it would be Charlize Theron, then Jennifer Aniston.

Couture takes on James “Lights Out” Toney August 28 in UFC 118 in Boston; for more info, check out UFC.com.
