UPDATE: Steve Whitmore, who is the media spokesman for L.A. County Sheriff Department, has confirmed Lohan was released at 1:35am PT. She was picked up by staff from the UCLA Medical Center, the rehab facility where she is headed.

Lindsay Lohan has been released from jail.

The Mean Girls star was released from the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California, in front of a swarm of media and paparazzi, after serving only a fraction of her 90-day sentence.

She is headed to UCLA Medical Center where she will undergo her rehabilitation treatment, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Lohan, 24, was sentenced to serve 90 days at the CRDC -- the same facility Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie had served time for their 2007 convictions -- followed by 90 days of rehab for violating conditions of her parole related to her 2007 DUI conviction.

Lohan was released early primarily due to jail overcrowding, but her sentence was also shaved for good behavior.

As RadarOnline.com first revealed exclusively, there was a last minute switch in venues.

Lindsay was slated to go to Morningside Recovery in Newport Beach, California, however, Judge Marsha Revel changed it to UCLA after concerns information could be leaked.

Lohan began serving her sentence July 20, and was visited in the facility her mother Dina and sister Ali, as well as her on-again, off-again lover Samantha Ronson.

Story developing.
