RadarOnline.com caught up with his twin brother, Jason, his girlfriend Sofia Karsten and his mother Debbie Nielsen for an exclusive video interview where they expressed their concern over the well-being of Jeremy.
“We don’t want to have this be a family feud thing and the truth of the matter is that my brother is sick right now,” Jason told RadarOnline.com outside the courthouse.
“He’s not really thinking with his sober brain and the people that are leading him along right now are a bunch of idiots.”
Jeremy’s family is adamant that they have stuck by the troubled actor for years while he’s battled prescription drug abuse.
“My hope for the future is that my brother will get the help he needs and he’ll come back to the family that loves him very much,” Jason said.
“As a mother, I’m scared and I’m scared for Jeremy,” his mother Debbie told RadarOnline.com. “We love him very much and want to help him. We’ve always been here and we’re not going anywhere.”
Visibly upset, Debbie told RadarOnline.com off camera that her daughter Dedra passed away in a car accident when she was just 16-years-old saying, “My daughter died in a car accident and I couldn’t save her. I can save him [Jeremy].”
“We love him very much and people need to understand that we have not taken a single penny for this, nor would we,” Jason concluded.
“If people want to give us money, they can donate it to Lyrik’s college fund.”
Jeremy and his wife Melissa Cunningham have a three-year-old son Lyrik together.
Lyrik is currently living with Melissa’s mother because the couple lost custody in light of their substance abuse problems.
