SATC ST: Better Than The Movie?

Everybody knows to expect some surprises from Carrie Bradshaw and the gals in the new film Sex and the City 2, but who knew the soundtrack had the biggest surprise of all?
Brace yourself for the ultimate Sex collaboration: SJP, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon performing their own version of the ultimate feminist anthem, I Am Woman by Helen Reddy. With some help from modern studio technology, the four ladies sound charming delivering the empowering lyrics “If I have to I can do anything/I am strong/I am invincible/I am Woman” over disco-lite beats.

Following the success of the soundtrack for the first SATC film -- which debuted at Number One on Billboard’s Soundtrack chart -- the SATC2 soundtrack features 17 songs in total from the film, including a brand-new duet by Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis entitled “Love Is Your Color.”
In honor of Carrie’s time travel back to the 1980s -- via flashback of course -- Alicia Keys offers up her own rendition of the iconic Blondie classic Rapture, featuring all-new lyrics about “24-hour shopping” and a SATC-themed rap with memorable lines like: “’Cuz I’m so Carrie and my man’s so Big…”
But the real centerpiece of the album is none other than Liza Minelli herself covering Beyonce’s mega-hit Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) with campy perfection in gravelly vocals. There’s something utterly surreal about imagining Liza with gloss on her hips, a man on her hips, and in her Dereon jeans. We love it!

Other artists on the album include Cee-Lo, Dido, Erykah Badu, and there are a few other familiar songs, like Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors and a slower, Jay-Z-less rendition of Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down that features the same sweeping chorus with new verses.
