The Dutchman made the confession during a police interrogation, NBC News reported.

"I did not want to do it. The girl intruded into my private life... she didn't have any right," van der Sloot is quoted as saying according to La Republica newspaper. "I went to her and I hit her. She was scared, we argued and she tried to escape. I grabbed her by the neck and hit her."

The paper also reported that he broke her neck after she grabbed his laptop and learned about his involvement in the Natalee Holloway case (he was linked, but never charged, in connection with the 2005 disappearance of the Alabama teenager in Aruba).

RadarOnline.com spoke exclusively to his attorney in the Holloway case who had disturbing insight into the young man. “At this stage I wouldn’t agree to be his attorney because the Joran of today has gone down a very disturbing path in life,” Joe Tacopino said.
