It’s the news his mom so desperately wanted to hear in her final moments alive.

On the eve of the anniversary of Farrah Fawcett’s death, her troubled son, Redmond O’Neal, has declared he is sober and the judge overseeing his rehabilitation agrees.

O'Neal told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview he was doing well.

"I'm doing very well in sober living," said the 24-year-old, who was arrested in December on drug charges while on a 24-hour pass from a drug rehab in Pasadena, California.

EXCLUSIVE: Ryan O'Neal Restricted From Visiting Redmond

Looking healthy and clear eyed, O’Neal -- the son of Farrah and Ryan O'Neal -- asked the court for permission to see his ailing grandfather.

Farrah's father, James, 92, lives in Texas.

While Judge Michael Tynan deferred his decision until he had spoken to impact, the sober living program where Redmond lives, he said if it were an emergency, he could grant the visit to his grandfather by phone.
