"I just told her basically everything," James, 41, told ABC's Vicki Mabrey. "That I had affairs outside of our marriage."

When Mabrey asked him if he thought Bullock, 45, suspected his serial cheating, James said, "I think she's had her suspicions ... in the past, and I lied, and lied my way out of it. I lied to everyone about everything, even to myself."

As RadarOnline.com has previously reported,  Bullock has filed for divorce, and is going through with the plans  solo    the couple had made to adopt a baby boy from New Orleans, Louisiana named Louis Bardot.

When asked by ABC News  if there was any reason why the couple decided to adopt a black child, James replied that he "didn't care what color" the baby was.

"My only prerequisite for adopting a baby -- I want the baby that needs us the most," James said.

"To see Bullock in the role as mother is, like, one of the most amazing things I've ever seen," the West Coast Choppers owner told ABC News. "She is like a fish to water ... as soon as she put that baby into her hands it was automatic and amazing. I found a new trust for her, like I knew she wasn't going to leave, and our relationship blossomed."

James also addressed the controversy that arose after a picture of him wearing a German war hat -- and mimicking a Nazi salute -- surfaced online.

"I could tell by the look on my face it was a joke that was funny then, probably for a minute, but then looking at it in the context of now and in my life, it's not funny," James said. "There's not a racist bone in my body. I think out of everything, this is why I'm doing this interview the most, because you know, dealing with losing my marriage and my son and embarrassing everyone and decimating my life, but to be called a racist on top of that is, it makes me really sad."

Following the scandal's outbreak, James spent a month at Sierra Tucson Rehab Facility in Arizona to treat his sex addiction.

"I just told Bullock I was going to get some help and I wanted to make sure she would take care of his daughter Sunny," James said of his stint at the facility, adding that Bullock told him she was proud of what he was doing.

Parts of the interview aired Tuesday, May 25 on Good Morning America, and the full chat will air on a special edition of ABC's Nightline Tuesday at 11:35/10:35c.
