EXCLUSIVE VIDEO INTERVIEW: Mindy McCready Says Her Celebrity Is Getting In The Way Of Justice

Country star Mindy McCready is affectionately called Marilyn Monroe by her 4-year-old son, but she can’t see Zander except during supervised visits. Mindy tells RadarOnline.com exclusively that her celebrity is getting in the way of justice.
“I was prepared for the fact that I knew that Zander probably wouldn’t be coming home immediately with me,” Mindy told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

The 34-year-old star of Celebrity Rehab was in Florida court Wednesday trying to win back custody of her son, who has been under the care of her mother Gayle McCready Inge for the past three years, because of Mindy’s well-publicized history of drug abuse and domestic violence.

Mindy was given 45 days to organize documents proving she completed drug treatment programs. But Mindy says “I feel like the state of Florida has purposefully made this more difficult on me than anyone else, period…This is a big deal to them that they don’t have any other people in the celebrity spotlight.”

Mindy’s mom says, “We love Mindy and there’s no question about bonding. He (Zander) loves his mother, talks to her all the time, looks at pictures, calls her Marilyn Monroe--he loves her.
“I saw them together last night they hugged and kissed and he played and had a great time and when he she left he said ‘Mommy come back and kiss me again.’”

Mindy admits she’s had issues with her mom for a long time, but “My mom is the custodian parent and she’s allowed to say ‘I’m mad at Mindy so she can’t see Zander’.”
But Gayle told RadarOnline.com exclusively that she has seen progress in Mindy, they spent the night together Tuesday and “she washed the dishes she brought dinner. She cleaned up all the toys. She was very respectful to me. Yes I saw progress.”

Mindy says she’s a different person now. “I understand now why I was dealing with depression. I understand why now I was having the problems I was having…I didn’t understand before.”

She credits Dr. Drew with a lot of her progress. “I can’t say enough good things about him. He is just my hero. He’s been so wonderful. If I picked up the phone and called him while we were in court, he would have answered. He has been amazing for me.”
As for her tainted past, including a sex tape that has just been released, Mindy says,“My personal life has been displayed over the tabloids and television. I’m not perfect by any means. I’m not perfect. I have made a lot of mistakes, but my mistakes have nothing to do with this situation. I love my child; my child and I deserve to be together. The mistakes that I’ve made are only going to make me a better parent.”
