VIDEO INTERVIEW: L.A. County Ass't Coroner Ed Winter Talks About Monjack Death

These statements came after a news conference early Monday in which Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter fielded questions about Monjack's death in front of the Hollywood Hills home on Rising Glen Road that Monjack and Murphy once shared.

"This evening, Mr. Monjack was found unresponsive, paramedics responded to the house, he was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m. Sunday," Winter said.

"There were some prescription drugs found that belonged to Mr. Monjack, and we'll have an ongoing investigation," he said. "Cause of death is pending, and there will be an autopsy after a day or so, and pending toxicology reports, we'll be releasing the results after we get all those tests back."

"The family is devastated at this time, and it is under investigation," Winter said. "And I ask that you give the family some privacy at this point on."

Winter said Monjack was found in the master bedroom, and "there were no illicit drugs located -- just precipitation medications," though he declined to reveal which specific medications were found.

Monjack's final interview was given to RadarOnline.com on May 13, where he showed off the gravestone he picked out for Murphy and discussed the public’s perception of his late wife.

“I think it’s time for everybody to realize,” Monjack said, “that Brittany was just an incredibly happy, precious angel that lives on through her fans and in our hearts.”
