The prime suspect in the murder of Monica Beresford-Redman -- her television producer husband Bruce -- has left Cancun, but remains under police order not to leave Mexico.

As RadarOnline.com revealed, Bruce Beresford-Redman has engaged high-profile Mexican attorney Eduardo Amerena to represent him, as authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding his wife's death.

He remains under the supervision of the U.S. Consulate's Office until the investigation into the death of his wife is complete.

New Twist in Survivor Murder in Mexico Case

Monica's body continues to be the subject of forensic investigation.

It still has not left Mexico, more than four days after it was found in a sewer, about 80 yards from the couple's hotel.

She was naked and had suffered fatal blows to the head, had scratches on her neck and there were signs of asphyxiation, police said.

Bruce, 38, who reportedly also had scratches on his neck when police questioned him, said he last saw his Brazilian-born wife Monday morning when she left alone to shop and get a massage.

The state prosecutor, Francisco Alor Quesada, confirmed Bruce was the only one authorized for the body to be handed over to, once federal authorities had finalized their autopsy.

He said the autopsy results could take anywhere from eight days to three weeks.

"What we need to determine is whether that blow was from falling into the sewer," said Alor.

He added: “According to Mexican law, the husband has ownership of the body, we have to reconcile those interests and once we have finished with the analysis of the body there will be negotiations among family members that we won’t get involved in. We’ll have work a few more days.”

According to NBC reporter John Cadiz Klemack, who is in Cancun covering the case, Monica was sighted coming back to the hotel with two other young women on Sunday night.

Later, that employee saw Bruce and Monica arguing just outside their hotel room. Monica then entered the room alone at 8:30 p.m.

A hotel guest in an adjoining room said there was a commotion coming from the Beresford-Redman room around 6 a.m. on Monday morning.

The hotel staff was notified that the guest heard "a women screaming for help" from within the Beresford-Redman room and the "sounds of furniture being moved or thrown."
