American Idol Season 8 contestant Scott MacIntyre is applying for a new job -- lead judge on the hit show! “I would love to replace Simon,” Scott told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive video interview as he performed songs from his new album Heartstrings while playing on Liberace’s piano at the Gibson Showroom in Beverly Hills.

Simon Cowell is stepping down from American Idol next season and Scott says he’s got the right moves to be the New Simon. “I can wear the v-neck shirts. I can be mean if I have to. I can do the British accent: 'Absolutely excruciating!' (His accent is a not bad!)

“I’m very qualified,” he promised. “I’ve got my masters degree, Marshall Scholar, Fulbright Scholar, American Idol. I would be down for that!”

The first visually impaired finalist on American Idol, Scott returned to the show in March to perform as a guest. “I went on and I made sure Simon was not allowed to say anything! Just wrote it into the contract,” he joked.

Scott showed off his talent while playing a private concert of his favorite song from his new album Heartstrings for RadarOnline.com, as well as Stars, Valentine and View From Above, which he wrote from a hospital bed during a life-threatening battle with kidney failure before a successful transplant.

Fans of his might be disappointed if he stopped touring and took a job as a judge. Scott just returned from two sold out shows in Tokyo. “I kind of forgot I was in another country,” he said. “Music just has a way of transcending those barriers, whether it is language or race or whatever it reaches down into people’s hearts.”

“I wrote every track on the album so there’s really a lot of heart and soul in every song,” he said about the album that debuted at #18 on the iTunes Pop Album Chart.

“More than just a great pop rock album, I wanted to give people some stories, some ups and downs that I’ve experienced in my life.”
